WHP 2.0 – What’s New?

by John Vogt, Sara Vogt - January 8, 2015

For those of you who are familiar with Wellsboro Home Page welcome to the Mini-Tour. The video above and the text below focuses only on the changes made for Wellsboro Home Page 2.0.

What’s new? Up until now we have been locked into one feature story a day. When breaking news happened we would bump the feature story and replace it with the breaking news story. But, what if something important happened that wasn’t considered breaking news. We were stuck. But, now with Wellsboro Home Page 2.0 we have a way to publish several stories on the same day. You’ll find them at the top of the left navigation bar. Every 5 seconds or so each story will rotate through. When you see one that your interested in just click on the story photo or choose the story you want to view from the list located under the rotating photos. We have also cleaned up both the top navigation bar and the side bar to make things easier to navigate.

With all the privacy issues today and the demand for more choices on how you browse the internet we have added a Search the Internet link located just above flash alerts that will allow you to choose from a number of search engines including ixquick, the world’s most private search engine. If you are one who does not like being tracked by search engines and then targeted by advertisers based on your searches then ixquick may be the right search engine for you.

One of our biggest announcements today has to do with Home Page sports. Today we are extremely pleased to announce that Ed Weaver has been hired as our new Wellsboro Home Page Sports Director. Ed is greatly respected for his work here in the community regarding local sports and our athletes. Ed operates both WellsboroAthletics.com and WellsboroFootball.com. We are looking forward to working with Ed to build a strong Sports Department here at Wellsboro Home Page. Ed will be assisted by Drew Patrick, Ryan Campbell, former head basketball coach Steve Adams, Jill Fidurko, Joe Carreon, Janessa Davis and Johanna Vogt.

Today, we are also introducing Home Page Kids. You will find it on the left navigation bar. It’s a safe place where younger children can go from time to time to play games, learn some good things and boost their imaginations by listening to KIDS STORIES BY SUMU. Natalie Quinn is the author of these wonderful children’s stories and it’s a real joy to have her featured here on Wellsboro Home Page. So don’t forget to check out Home Page Kids.

Jen Davis will continue to keep us healthy with her broadcast An Apple a Day. Chamber Highlights will continue from the Wellsboro Chamber of Commerce. Tim Morey has agreed to stay another year with Outdoor Adventures. Susquehanna Health and Laurel Health Centers will continue to provide us with special medical broadcasts. We will be expanding Keeping Love Alive with various guest including the much loved Steve and Annie Chapman. Chief Jim Bodine will continue with his briefing. Plus, we have some brand new broadcast features coming up for 2015. Please watch today’s feature for details.

Once again thanks to our family of sponsors for making all of this possible and thank you our Home Page Viewers – you are the best viewers any media organization could ask for. Most of all, we want to thank the Lord for His incredible love toward each of us and for giving us the strength needed to serve our community.

Remember, it’s all right here on Wellsboro Home Page. Please make us your Home Page today.
