Wellsboro Wilds Plein Air Art Competition & Festival
The Wellsboro Wilds Plein Air Art Competition and Festival, a unique event that captures the 19th-century painting style outdoors, comes to Wellsboro and Tioga County. We spoke with Colleen Krise of the Wellsboro Art Club, the host of this family-friendly event. She’s excited to share the September 13th and 14th weekend details with you.
Colleen stressed that everyone is encouraged to join in on the fun! Professionals, non-professionals, and children can register for the competitions on the Wellsboro Art Club Facebook page or in person at the event. In-person registration and reception will be held at the Deane Center from 5:00 to 7:00 pm on September 13th.
To register on their Facebook page, please visit their site at https://www.facebook.com/WellsboroArtClub
There are two competitions to choose from: the eight-hour competition, which costs $40.00 per person, and the two-hour competition, which costs $20.00 per person. In eight hours, you may travel around Tioga County and find the location where you would like to paint. The two-hour competition will be held on Main Street in Wellsboro.
There will be an award ceremony on September 14th at 6:00 pm at the Deane Center in Wellsboro. In addition to other prizes, $500 will be given to the top prize winner! You can also purchase some of the art made during the festival.
The Wellsboro Art Club wants to support art students in continuing their education in art. This event also funds the Jane Weatherbee Scholarship Award given to a local graduating art senior.
