Wellsboro Soccer Tops North Penn-Liberty, 6-2
On Wednesday, September 25th the Wellsboro boys soccer team hosted the North Penn-Liberty Mounties. Wellsboro started the night off as River Moyer set the ball up for Micaiah Fitch who slammed it in, 6 mins into the game.
Next, with 26:11 left in the half David Seeling cut back and centered it to Alex Citrino for the goal. Hornets up, 2-0.
Wellsboro scored again from Seeling on a breakaway, as he put it just past the keeper’s reach.
Then Citrino to Fitch, with a perfect keeper-beater, increased Wellsboro’s lead to 4-0 with only 10 mins left in the half.
The Mounties broke the shutout two minutes later as Tayton Strange sent a free kick up from 50 yards out. The Mounties trailed 4-1.
North Penn-Liberty found their final goal with 36 minutes left in regulation off of a penalty kick by Brady Starter.
Wellsboro hit the back of the net again with 21:07 left in the game as Jude Cuneo centered it to Citrino for the perfect placement.
Lastly, the Hornets finished the game with a comfortable lead with only 5:27 in regulation. Moyer to Citrino again for the goal to end the game with the Hornets on top, 6-2.
Both teams play again this Saturday the 28th at 10am. Wellsboro will host the Towanda Black Knights and the Mounties are on the road to face the Warriors in Williamson.
