Wellsboro Outlasts North Penn-Liberty in Five-Set Thriller
In a nail-biting matchup Tuesday night, the Wellsboro Lady Hornets edged out the North Penn-Liberty Lady Mounties in a five-set battle, securing a 3-2 victory on the road.
The opening set set the tone for the night, with both teams trading kills until Wellsboro squeezed out a narrow 26-24 win. Riding that momentum, the Lady Hornets claimed the second set 25-20, taking a 2-0 lead.
Refusing to go quietly, the Lady Mounties stormed back in the third set, dominating 25-15, and kept their comeback alive by taking the fourth 25-22 to even the match at 2-2.
The deciding fifth set was a back-and-forth fight, but Wellsboro held firm, pulling away late to seal the win 15-11.
Next up, Wellsboro will host the Athens Lady Wildcats on Thursday at 7:30 p.m., while North Penn-Liberty looks to rebound at home against Northeast Bradford at the same time.
