Wellsboro Mercy Rules Mansfield in Baseball
On Tuesday March 24th, the Wellsboro Hornets hosted the North Penn-Mansfield Tigers at Smyth Park. The hornets dominated the diamond, mercy ruling the tigers. By the end of the fifth, the hornets finished the game on top, 23-5.
In the first inning, Wellsboro runs up a few runs. Then in the top of the second, Marek Mascho line drive left center brining home Reed Richardsons. The tigers responds stealing home off an error.
Top of the third, bases loaded, Richardson ground ball straight down the third baseline, scoring Cameron Owlett. Shortly after Gage Baltzley turns on the jets to steal home. Next, Mascho brings Richardson home hitting a double.
In the fifth inning, the hornets went on to merchy rule the tigers starting as Baltzley makes some great contact, bringing home Kody Enk and Owlett. Finally, to finish the top of the fifth with gusto, Richardson with a great placed ball scores Syler Pietrzky and Baltzley. In the bottom of the inning, Wellboros’ defense was too strong for the tigers to overcome taking the victory for the hornets. The final score: 23-5.
The North Penn-Mansfield tigers at back at it again tomorrow, March 26th, at 4:30 in Smyth Park and the Wellsboro hornets hit the road on Saturday, March 28th, to face Jersey Shore at 11am.
