Wellsboro Men’s Chorus To Hold 75th Anniversary Concert
On April 30th at 7:00 PM at the Wellsboro Area School District’s Auditorium, the Wellsboro Men’s Chorus will celebrate its 75th Anniversary. Ivory Lady Pat Davis and Men’s Chorus President Tom Reindl came into the Home Page studios to discuss the concert.
Tom explained that four men started the Men’s Chorus of Wellsboro in 1946 with four members. At first, they would gather around someone’s piano and sing. The chorus currently has close to forty men, ranging in age from their 20s to 90s.
Currently, Christina Simonis is the choir director, while Ivory Lady Pat Davis has accompanied the chorus for over forty years.
Please watch the video to hear Pat share about two of the songs she will be performing and why they are unique to her and the community of Wellsboro.
In the video, someone called into the broadcast to share that he has been in the chorus for fifty years, and Pat! Watch to see who!
Charles Jacobson will be the master of ceremonies for this grand event. He is a beloved member of the chorus and looks forward to celebrating with the other five choirs joining the Men’s Chorus.
In writing, below is the schedule for the evening.
Special Note: This interview brought back beautiful memories of the 1970s. Christina and I sang with Pat Davis while she was our high school teacher here in Wellsboro, and Christina also went on to become a music teacher herself!
Special thanks to Dunham’s Department Store for curating Sara Vogt’s outfit on today’s broadcast.
