On Friday, October 10th, the Wellsboro Hornets hosted the Canton Warriors for their homecoming, and the Hornets’ offense and defense were unstoppable in a 49-7 rout.

The night began with the community lining Main Street for the grand homecoming parade, before fans made their way up to the high school for the festivities—and the football.

Wellsboro set the tone early. On their opening drive, Griffin Morral faked the pitch and raced outside for a touchdown, putting the Hornets up 6-0. Minutes later, Dylan Copp powered in from inside the 10-yard line, followed by a two-point conversion from Marek Mascho—Wellsboro 14-0.

The Hornets’ defense forced a turnover soon after, and Morral found a wide-open Kody Enck for a touchdown. Finn Matthews’ extra point pushed Wellsboro to 21-0.

The second quarter only increased the momentum. Reed Richardson’s blitz forced another Canton turnover, which Enck returned for a touchdown. Not long after, Enck intercepted yet another pass, scoring again for a 35-0 lead. Canton finally got on the board with a touchdown late in the quarter, making it 35-7 at halftime.

Halftime celebrations crowned this year’s homecoming royalty: Henry Whitney as Duke, Anaya Webb as Duchess, Garrett Kaltenbach as King, and Taylor Main as Queen.

The Hornets maintained a running clock in the second half, cruising to a decisive 49-7 victory. With the win, Wellsboro celebrates a memorable homecoming night and looks ahead to hosting Northwest Area this Friday, while Canton travels to Sayre on Saturday.
