Rails to History
“Why don’t we do Knoxville?” was the innocent question that launched a ten-year-long retirement project. Alan and Diane Forsberg are the talented couple that built the impressive, HO-scale model train replica of Knoxville, PA in it’s hay day. Every winter they would tirelessly recreate the town’s buildings by hand while working from photographs and Alan’s memories.

This large set interprets the New York Central and W.A.G. lines in a working layout which is now on permanent exhibit. Knoxville was a bustling community of less than 700 residents and had every advantage being highly merchantile. Consumers could, “buy any kind of good, any kind of service,” said Alan.

Haven’s First Annual Spring Gala
Join HAVEN of Tioga County for its first annual Spring Gala on Saturday, April 28, at the Deane Center in Wellsboro.

The evening of music and dancing kicks off at 7 p.m. The admission price of $50 per couple and $30 per individual includes hors d’oeuvres, desserts, and a cash bar. Food will be provided by Timeless Destination and music will be by Prestige Worldwide. Akiko’s Floral Arts is providing flowers to be raffled off at the end of the evening.

All proceeds benefit HAVEN, which provides free and confidential services including counseling, legal advocacy, safety planning, children’s services, relocation assistance, and more for victims of domestic violence and sexual assault in Tioga County.

Back to Basics – Seasons
Some have compared the changing seasons in nature to the changing seasons in life. Your birth is like spring. Everything is young, full of life and promise. Then comes summer, when things mature and continue to grow. Autumn, however marks a significant change. Maturity presents a climactic display that gives way to winter. During winter, life slows and eventually gives way to death.

This is a fine analogy, but in reality life is not so linear. There are seasons in relationships, in your job, and your hobbies and interests. Life is full of change and as a result can be difficult to keep track of. At times we grow weary of responding to all of the seasons of life we experience. Is it really possible to find balance and peace when everything is always changing?

This feature is entitled “Back to Basics” because what we really need is a return to our foundation. God created us to find our satisfaction and purpose in Him. But, when we yield to the chaos of life we often forget about what matters most — Christ! Apart from Him the seasons of life are nothing more than meaningless hustling.

Forged and Restored in Morris, PA
“We’re actually in our 10th year here, it’s been about 3 years now that we’ve had it open as a store front” says Zack Buck local veteran, owner, and operator of Blak Forge Armoury. Nestled in the town of Morris, PA, this rather unique shop offers a variety of rare and specialized services.

Zack has been an avid user of firearms since the age of 7, frequently hunting with his grandfather who helped to develop his love for guns. He began working at a traditional blacksmith’s forge, dabbling in muzzle loader builds for himself and friends, which developed into a hobby. His initial desire to work on firearms came in college when his brother, Jacob Buck, and some other friends discussed opening a gun store with the intent of doing gunsmithing. After doing some research, Zack found that his market would be better focused more on custom orders and restoration.

Nature Interrupted
There’s a photographic experience coming this April and it’s located right here in Wellsboro.

The exhibition will show off nature, and how trash interrupts the beauty of it, more importantly the impact trash has on Earth.

Kaitlyn Callahan, the event coordinator, is an avid photographer and videographer. She has been working for the Home Page Network for two years and this will be her first exhibition.

The gallery is named, Nature, Interrupted and will be held on April 28th, 2018 from 4 to 6 in the evening at the Warehouse Theatre located on 39 Water Street in Wellsboro.
