All Seasons of Adventure!
Three Springs now turns the seasonal page to fall and winter retreat season, where youth groups come and spend three days at a time learning truth from God’s Word, worshiping together, enjoying relationships with each other, and doing so in beautiful Tioga County! Adult guests do the same of The Linck Hill Inn; the adult retreat facility owned and operated by Three Springs Ministries, just one mile away from the camp.

Additionally, this fall marks the outset of a new partnership with Lancaster Bible College and the “Onelife” program. Onelife is a 9-month gap-year experience for post-high school students who desire to grow in their Christian faith, live in authentic in Christian community, travel the world, and earn up to 30 college credits in the process. Students will rside at Three Springs and enjoy the unique beauty of the camp setting while also traveling accross the United States and even the country of Israel.

Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over
Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over is a national impaired driving enforcement campaign that is currently running from August 16 – September 4, 2017. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), an average of 10,000 people per year are killed in drunk driving crashes. That is approximately 1 person every 51 minutes. Although law enforcement remains vigilant every day in enforcing impaired driving, this campaign helps to draw national attention to those efforts.

Impairment begins with the first drink. Various factors such as weight, gender, and food consumption will determine what your Blood Alcohol Content (BAC) is and the effect on your driving ability. After only 2 drinks, you’re likely to notice changes in your ability to track moving objects, ability to perform 2 tasks at the same time, and your ability to respond to emergency driving situations.

Corey Creek Golf Club
Nestled in the mountains of Tioga County, there is a hidden treasure for local golfers. Corey Creek Golf Club in Mansfield, Pennsylvania presents some visually breathtaking holes and is a fun challenge to play.

Open to the public, Corey Creek is in it’s 90th year. When it opened in 1927, it began as a 9-hole course. However, the holes had to be rebuilt after both hurricane Agnes and hurricane Elouise swept through the area and washed out parts of the course. Now, Corey Creek is in great shape and draws in local community as well as visitors from outside the area. Corey Creek’s former Golf Professional, Art Connelly, discusses how proud he is of how the course has developed to what it is today. “It has transitioned from a backwoods golf course to a fine golf course with help from the United States Golf Association, the membership, and the Green Superintendents throughout the years” said Connelly.

Laurel Health – Meet Dr. Wilkins
Monica Wilkins, MD is the newest board certified family medicine physician to join the Laurel Health network and is now accepting new patients at the Blossburg office in Tioga County.

“I am from Big Bear, California. I joined the Navy right after high school as a Cryptologic Technician. With Family Medicine I get to use my math and science skills to help individuals as well as the family unit and the community. I interviewed at several places but when I came to Laurel Health for Blossburg it just felt like home,” said Wilkins, who most recently worked for the United States Air Force as an active duty staff family physician at the Holloman AFB in New Mexico. She also had the opportunity to practice medicine in Africa for six months while deployed.

Behind the Sparkle: Peridot
Peridot is an stunning, yellow-Green gem found deep in the earth mantle. It is a relatively soft gem and needs special care while wearing and cleaning. Peridot has strong double refraction, which means when light enters the gem, it splits in two – making facets appear doubled. This unique characteristic is used by gemologist to identify the stone. This technique is also used to separate moissanite from diamond.

The ancient Egyptians mined peridot on the Red Sea island of Zabargad, the source for many large, fine peridots in museums across the world. The Egyptians called peridot, “gem of the sun.” This is an interesting observation as peridot, on rare occasion, comes from an extraterrestrial source. Peridot has been found in meteorites that have fallen to earth and in comet dust brought back from the Stardust Robotic Space Probe in 2005.
