Higgins claims 7th STPR Victory
The 41st annual Waste Management Susquehannock Trail Performance Rally was held from Friday, June 2 to Saturday, June 3. This year’s event was sanctioned by a new partner, the American Rally Association. Racing teams from across the globe, including locals from Tioga County, gathered on The Green in Wellsboro to begin the weekend on Friday.

Higgins and Drew would continue on to win, marking Higgins 7th STPR victory and his third American Rally Association championship. Travis Pastrana and Robbie Durant placed second overall, with Jeff Seehorn and Karen Jankowski following in third.

Back to Basics – Honor
As a nation we just celebrated Memorial Day weekend, and the topic of honor is in the front of our minds. To honor someone simply means to show them high esteem or great respect. We understand the importance of showing respect to those who have purchased and defended our freedom by sacrificing their lives for the good of their country. And it is their sacrifice the helps us remember what it means to live in a way that is truly honorable. Rather than buying into the world’s pattern of honoring self above all else, remember the example of those before us who would rather live for the good of another than the good of self.

Smithgall Directs Final Concert
Mrs. Judy Smithgall conducted and directed her last Spring Choral Concert on Tuesday, May 16, 2017. Home Page cameras were there to capture the concert, the tears, the thank you’s and the memories of this extraordinary teacher.

The event took place at the Wellsboro High School Auditorium. The atmosphere was swirling with memories as participants performed to a packed audience for the last time under Mrs. Smithgall’s direction. Her guiding movements, eye contact with her students, and the energy of her conducting revealed the enthusiasm of a twenty-five-year-old. Mrs. Smithgall will be deeply missed and difficult to replace.

In this tour of Pop’s Culture Shoppe, we discover games such as Takenoko, Forbidden Island, and Brick Party. When the weather is sunny, we can enjoy fun, outdoor games such as ring toss, boomerangs, hacky sacks, and giant, soft Frisbees to throw. We also learn about magnetic games, bingo, and other travel games that will keep the kids busy on long car rides, in a hotel room, or even at a campsite. In addition to games, Pop’s Culture Shoppe also sponsors a photo contest to determine which photos will be turned into special Tioga County puzzles.

The Laurel Festival Approaches!
Today’s feature focuses on the 76th annual State Laurel Festival, held June 10th-18th. Begun as a weekend event in 1938 by Larry Woodin, the festival has grown into a weeklong celebration that kicks off the summer.
