Wellsboro Golf Season Preview 2016
The 2016 NTL golf season starts today, and the young Wellsboro Hornet team is ready to hit the links.
Head Coach: Steve Macensky (2nd year, 17-27)
2015 Season Record: 17-27 (17-25 NTL)
Key Returners: Kyle Reese, Ben Barnett, Brandyn Tuttle
Player to Watch: Brandyn Tuttle
The Hornets are still young in 2016, with no seniors and only three juniors on the roster, but could shake things up in the league. The team lost Ryan Reese, who led the team last season, to graduation, but return three of their top six scorers from last season. Tuttle, a sophomore captain, had the second best average on the team and Barnett, another sophomore captain, had the third best average.
“I’m excited to get the season started,” said Coach Macensky. “Our team goal for this season is to qualify for District play as a team. We have several returning players who have put a lot of time in playing golf this summer. I’m hoping some of the Freshman will be able to qualify and get to play in a few of the league matches to get experience. I think we should be very competitive with the rest of the teams in our league this year.”
The season starts today at Shepard Hills Country Club in Sayre, PA. For more information, please visit golf team’s page on WellsboroAthletics.com, powered by Circle W Sports.
