Wellsboro faces Danville for Senior Night
The Wellsboro Varsity Baseball team dropped their third consecutive game as they lost 6-5 to Danville on Monday, May 11.
Danville jumped out to an early 3-0 lead in the top of the first inning, but the Hornets would make it 3-2 as Freshman Dalton Prough and Junior Dawson Prough each scored runs on an RBI single from Senior Brett Kendrick. Wellsboro tied the game in the bottom half of the 2nd inning as Freshman Johnny Rowland touched home plate.
The Hornets would take a 5-3 lead after the third inning as Dawson Prough and Kendrick each scored, but Danville scored two runs in the fourth and one in the fifth to win the game.
Dawson Prough was 2-for-4 on the night and scored two runs, Senior Nick Levindoski was 2-for-4, Kendrick was 2-for-4 with 3 RBIs and scored a run. Dalton Prough went 1-for-4 and scored a run, Junior Sam Moss was 1-for-2, and Rowland also scored a run.
Moss started on the mound for Wellsboro and pitched five innings allowing all six runs on seven hits with three walks and a strikeout. Junior James Mundy pitched the final two innings in relief and allowed two hits.
With the loss, the Hornets fall to 11-7. The team will be back in action on Wednesday, May 13 as they host Williamson.
