Cowanesque Valley takes the victory, 6-1

The Wellsboro Boys Tennis team lost their home opener on Thursday, April 2 to Cowanesque Valley, 6-1.

The match started in the Hornets’ favor as Junior Tyler Kennedy defeated Adam Brooks 6-2, 6-0, but CV would take the rest of the matches. Nate Pickering beat Cameron Berson 6-2, 6-1 at second singles, Jamie Calvin topped Landen Kennedy 6-1, 6-1 at third singles, Nate Bonham defeated Noah Colton 6-1, 6-1 in fourth singles, and Nick Caprio downed Noah Fitch 7-6 (7-5), 6-0 at fifth singles.

CV took both doubles matches as Pickering and Bonham beat Kennedy and Kennedy 6-4, 6-2 and Calvin and Caprio beat Berson and Colton 6-3, 6-2 to take the match.

The loss drops the Hornets to 0-2 (0-2 NTL). The team will be back in action on Tuesday, April 2 as they host a double-header with Liberty starting at 3:30 p.m. at Packer Park.
