Wellsboro Elementary Students Enjoy Ag Safety Day
On May 7th the Grand Canyon FFA chapter, including students from Wellsboro Area High School, hosted Ag Safety Day at the Whitneyville Fairgrounds. This event provided an opportunity for Wellsboro elementary students to be educated on safety topics – regardless of their involvement in the agriculture community.
“I feel like its important just so the kids get a general idea of safety in different aspects, not just agriculture,” said Ag Safety Day presenter, Delilah Massey, who spoke to the kids on the importance of proper sun protection while outdoors.
Numerous presenters from professional fields were also in attendance, coaching safety to kids on topics including electricity, fire and smoke, water rescue, working with animals, and more.
“This is a great program put on by the high school ag department,” said elementary school teacher Holden Kennedy. “All these safety areas are prevalent in their lives, and I just really enjoy that aspect of the day. It’s also just a great opportunity for these kids to see these opportunities as they enter high school.”
