Wellsboro Baccalaureate 2015

by Drew Patrick - June 5, 2015

On Wednesday, June 3rd, Wellsboro High School held it’s 2015 baccalaureate ceremony for their graduating seniors. Ten of Wellsboro’s finest students spoke about lessons learned during their time of schooling. On today’s broadcast you will hear from Paige Carr, Lauren Gooch, Meghan Bodine, Kieron Smethers, Alice Hakvaag, Andrew Galloway, Alexandria Mansfield, Jacob Mitchell, Elise Becker, and Ben Davis.

Senior members of the chorus serenaded us with three songs throughout the evening including “May It Be,” “Let There Be Peace on Earth,” and “Seize the Day.”

This year’s featured speaker was Shawn Mayo. Mr. Mayo has been a substitute teacher for the past two years in the Wellsboro Area School District. He is also the Youth Pastor at Vineyard Church of Wellsboro. In his address, he talked about how wisdom is a powerful tool. He encouraged the students not to let their new found freedom trap them by making poor life decisions. Pastor Mayo stated, “You can put your hand on the stove and feel the pain, you can watch someone put their hand on the stove, or you can have the wisdom to not try it.”

We hope you will enjoy today’s special broadcast feature. Please share it with family and friends. Thanks for watching.
