Welcome to the Blossburg Coal Festival
The Blossburg State Coal Festival is an annual celebration of Blossburg’s rich history in coal mining. It commemorates the diverse social and economic impacts it has had and continues to have on this wonderful community. Many local vendors, nonprofits, businesses, and community members have come together to put on this exciting event.
Today, members from the Coal Festival Committee, Dave Thompson and Annie Brooks, are here to share more about the many activities they have planned this year.
This fun weekend begins on Friday, May 28th at 5pm with a variety of vendors setting up, including leather and patchwork items, food vendors such as cotton candy, funnel cake, candy apples, and much more. If you are interested in being a vendor, you can fill out the form here.
Logan Route, the Southern Tioga Jazz Band, and Uptown Music Collective are just a few of the performances you can expect to hear at the festival.
Show off your talent in the Bigfoot Radio Talent Show! Talents of all kinds are welcome – fill out the application form by May 15th here.
In addition to the car show, they are also bringing back the bike show this year. There will be more than 35 trophies given out, as well as 2goody bags, door prizes, and more.
Many local organizations will be at the festival, including the youth football team selling hot sausages, a chicken BBQ, and even a whiffle ball tournament hosted by the Sheriff’s Office between law enforcement and fire personnel in the county.
Other events include a parade, a cornhole tournament, cooking classes for both kids and adults through Rookie Cooks Academy, and much more. A full schedule of activities can be found here.
The festival will take place on May 28th, 29th, and 30th at Island Park in Blossburg. There is no admission charge – they are doing this as a gift to the community! Thank you so much to everyone who has helped to make this possible.
