SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE?

You too can learn to dance – step by step! That is the encouragement that Kacy Hagan tells everyone who enters her dance classes.

Kacy was born and raised here in Wellsboro. After graduating from high school she went to Virginia for college and lived in the Washington, D.C. area until she returned to her home town two years ago. Now she teaches dance classes at the Deane Center as a way of bringing people together to have fun and learn some new steps!

On today’s feature some of her past students give us an opportunity to see some of the steps they have been learning.

Her next set of classes of Waltz and Swing begin on July 13 for six weeks. For more information you can contact Kacy at 301-222-3250 or e-mail her at learn2ballrooomdance@gmail.com.

SHOWDOWN SET FOR WEDNESDAY NIGHT!

The Wellsboro Boys All-Stars faced off against the Potter-Mckean Boys All-Stars Monday night in one of the final rounds of pool play. Both teams came ready to play but it was Wellsboro who got a good start in this game using strong defense to keep the Potter-Mckean offense at bay. The frustration rose for Potter-Mckean when they couldn’t get anything going. Wellsboro took advantage of the sluggish Potter-Mckean offense with some great offense of their own, jumping to a 4-0 lead using timely hitting, great awareness at the plate, and some excellent base running.

It was a different game after the start of the fifth inning. The momentum of the game shifted in favor of Potter-Mckean after fielding errors from Wellsboro allowed Potter-Mckean to score some runs and get back in the game. Potter-Mckean was very aggressive offensively, with a 2-run shot over the left field fence, securing an 8-6 lead. After the swing of momentum, it was all Potter-Mckean the rest of the way – defeating Wellsboro 8-6.

The Asaph Trail Club only meets once a month, but there are frequent hiking excursions for you to take part in. There are hikes taking place on Tuesday and Thursday. Tuesday is a longer hike, while Thursday offers shorter one. Hikes of varying length occasionally take place on Saturdays as well.

Anyone can join the Asaph Trail Club. Stop by Wild Asaph Outfitters on Main Street in Wellsboro and request to join. It’s that simple.

POTTER-MCKEAN WINS DISTRICT 15 TITLE!

The Wellsboro 11-12 All-Stars traveled to Shinglehouse where they faced the Potter-Mckean All-Stars in the game three showdown. The district title was at stake, and both teams came ready to play.

Potter-Mckean had a hot start to this game, getting out ahead of the Wellsboro pitching and making some great plays on the base-paths. Potter-Mckean also played some great defense and it was fueled by the excellent pitching of Howie Stuckey. He used a nasty curveball, along with a good mix of the fastball and slider all night long to leave the Wellsboro batters off balance and frustrated. In two separate innings, Wellsboro grounded into two crippling double plays that really put a damper on them the rest of the way and further showed the great execution of the Potter-Mckean All-Stars. Wellsboro would plate one run on a fielder’s choice in the bottom of the 6th inning, but that was it. Their bats were silenced the rest of the game. Potter Mckean takes the district 15 title with a score of 4-1.

WELLSBORO ALL-STARS WIN DISTRICT TITLE!

The 9-10 Boys All-Stars from Sayre and Wellsboro took the field on Thursday with the hopes of claiming the district 15 title. Both teams worked hard to get to this point, but only one would come away the victor. Wellsboro got off to a fast start, getting in front of the Sayre pitching and using great instincts at the plate to jump to an early lead. They didn’t let up as the game went on, leading by as much as 10-0 in the 4th inning. Wellsboro showed great defense by executing two textbook double plays in the game to limit Sayre’s offense. Sayre wasn’t going to go down without a fight, plating 4 runs in an attempt to get back in the game. Wellsboro dominated Sayre and claimed the district title, defeating Sayre 15-4.
