THE WEEKLY BRIEFING – A LIFE CHANGING RIDE

Home Page spoke with Chief Jim Bodine and Ms. Sherry Mohr about an eye-opening, one-of-a-kind program offered at Wellsboro High School. Ms. Mohr teaches a Justice Education class at the high school. Students enrolled in this class are given the option to take a 2-hour ride with a Wellsboro police officer. “When I talk to students about it, I mention that this is kind of a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for them.” says Mohr. “They should take [this program] while they can.”

The fair had games for the children to enjoy as well – a great environment for parents and vendors to discuss the possibilities for this summer.

In other words, if someone is convicted of a D.U.I. and it’s their first offense, they will be subject to having the ignition interlock system installed in their vehicle. Educating local law enforcement is important, with ignition interlock becoming more common among drivers here in Pennsylvania. One key aspect of the training session was to educate officials on how to spot tampering with the device. This is a crucial component of the training considering officials will be encountering this device on a more frequent basis.

HELP GOODWILL HELP OUR COMMUNITY!

Goodwill is a non-profit organization that has been around for over 100 years. We spoke with Vice President of Retail, Paul Guzik, Retail Manager Lisa McCloski, and Employment Specialist Sue Whitey about the different ways we can give back to our community and how Goodwill is a stepping stone for individuals that are facing obstacles entering the workforce.
