Weekly Highlights – 12/12/16 – 12/16/16

It’s time once again to take a look at what happened the past week. The Weekly Highlights are a great way to catch up, but don’t forget that you can always watch the full stories from either our front page or the archives section.

CHRISTMAS ON MAIN STREET
A successful start to a new beginning here in Wellsboro; Christmas on Main Street. This year’s maiden voyage brought many from near and far to enjoy the shops, games, artisans, and musicians. From Friday to Sunday there were many opportunities for the entire family to experience the joy and warmth of a small town during the Christmas season.

COUDY EDGES LADY HORNETS, 50-42
The Coudersport Lady Falcons rallied from a 9-2 first quarter deficit to beat the Wellsboro Varsity Girls Basketball team 50-42 on Monday, December 12.
Coudersport also won the JV game, defeating Wellsboro 35-15. Freshman Jaime Palmer was the Lady Hornets’ leading scorer with 6 points.
Wellsboro falls to 1-2 (0-0 NTL Large School Division) on the year. The team will be back in action on Wednesday, December 14 at Canton.

TOWANDA TOPS HORNET WRESTLERS
The Towanda Black Knights secured a 52-12 win over Wellsboro to start the NTL regular season on Tuesday, December 13.
Towanda scored 6 forfeits, and won all 4 matches on the night. Keegan Kisner scored a 13-2 major decision over freshman Aidan Hauser at 145, Logan Johnson picked up a 4-0 decision over Caleb Sinkler at 152, Joe Koss pinned Brennan Catherman at 182, and Seth Johnson won a close 2-0 decision over Hunter Brown at 195.
Wellsboro’s two wins came by forfeit from sophomore Robert Brown at 220 and senior Kaleb Smith at 285.

THE 26TH ANNUAL LIVE NATIVITY
This weekend at Three Springs Ministries thousands will come to witness their Live Nativity Musical Drama. This is one very special annual event that you do not want to miss. There will be a total of nine shows this weekend. Presentations will run on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, December 16, 17 & 18. There will be three shows each night beginning at 5:30, 7:00 & 8:30. There is off-site parking available. So, you can arrive early and take the shuttle bus.

FRIENDS ANNUAL SUPPORT CAMPAIGN
Friends of Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hospital share a special commitment to our health system through an annual, tax-deductible membership of $100 or more. Membership funds are used to purchase vital equipment and expand community health programs.
This year the funds raised will help to purchase equipment for the rehabilitation services which will benefit the patients they serve. The different pieces that they are requesting are the Biofeedback machine, Physio Touch, Vitalstim Kit and Scifit ISO 7000 Upright Bike.
