Weekly Highlights – 11/23/15 – 11/27/15

A look at this week’s highlights (and bloopers!) on Wellsboro Home Page

by Home Page Staff - November 28-29, 2015

It’s time once again to take a look at what happened the past week. The Weekly Highlights are a great way to catch up, but don’t forget that you can always watch the full stories from either our front page or the archives section.

For the first time in school history the Wellsboro Varsity Football team won the District IV Class A Championship.
“Tonight’s win is the payoff of three years of hard work,” said Hildebrand. “If you weren’t willing to put in the time you weren’t going to be a part of it. If we had 11 guys that’s what we were going to play with. We’ve had multiple kids buy into the program and it trickled down from the seniors to the freshman and success builds success. It definitely starts with the standard you set and hard work.”

Forensic psychology is a fascinating field in which psychologists specializing in clinical, counseling, developmental, school, or other fields examine and provide expertise in areas of the judicial system. Although TV shows, like CSI, involve criminal profiling or working at crime scenes, neither of these areas are a primary focus in forensic psychology. In fact, many forensic psychologists assist in conducting mental state examinations, child custody and family law, violence risk assessment, social science research, police training, and interrogation tactics. With so many areas to study and practice, this field is a growing interest for many psychology professionals and students.

When you hear an ambulance or fire truck siren, you instantly know two things. The first is someone needs help and the second is that help is on the way. This month marks the 73rd year that the Wellsboro Firemen’s Ambulance Association has given this peace of mind to our community. Peter Lupkowski, president of the association (in charge of the ambulance part of things) and eighty-six-year-old T. Thomas Stager, association historian and gifted storyteller, joined us to talk about the association.

Today we take time to thank God for His many blessings and His great love for each of us. We encourage each of you to take a few moments today to thank our gracious heavenly Father for the things that He has done. Know also that we thank God everyday for you, our Home Page viewers. You’re the best. Have a great time of Thanksgiving.
