HORNETS WIN FIRST EVER D4 PLAYOFF GAME

The Wellsboro Varsity Football team made history on Friday, November 13 with a 14-0 shutout against Muncy for the team’s first ever District IV playoff victory at Mansfield University’s Karl Van Norman Field.
Next week, the Hornets (9-2) will face off against rival North Penn (6-5) two weeks removed from their epic 35-34 double overtime game at Mansfield University’s Karl Van Norman Field for a shot at the school’s first District IV football championship.

“The last game (against North Penn) was a little stressful, but it will definitely draw some fans and I’m looking forward to a good game like last week,” Hildebrand concluded. “That game could have went either way. We know what they have and they know what we have, so it will be a showdown.”

A FEW OF MY FAVORITE THINGS

When it comes to winter fashion, many of us northerners give up on aesthetically pleasing clothing in favor of warmer apparel. But, as we at WHP learned in our interview with Fifth Season’s stylist Britt Garrison, The Fifth Season Boutique keeps your wardrobe classy and cozy.

“No matter what client I’m working with–how old they are, what size they are–I have a number one styling tip…” Garrison says, “Be comfortable.”

CHAMBER HIGHLIGHTS – WEEKEND & DICKENS
Another whirlwind of local events are about to hit the calendar. Throughout the holiday season, Wellsboro has many diversions to offer—you’re sure to find something that appeals no matter what your interests.
Over the weekend, November 19th-22nd, Hamilton-Gibson will be presenting “The Honky Tonk Angels Holiday Spectacular.” Thursday-Saturday the show is held at 7:30pm, while the Sunday showing is at 2:30pm. Admission is $18 for adults, $7 for students Thursday and Friday; Saturday admission drops to $12 for adults, free for students; and Sunday is “Pay What You Can.” However, 2009’s prequel production was exceedingly popular, so make your reservations in advance!

The Fifth Season hosts their Holiday Open House the same weekend (November 20th-22nd), sure to be a “magical holiday shopping experience” complete with raffles and refreshments. Other downtown Wellsboro merchants will be hosting their own open house events November 20th and 21st, so stop in anywhere along Main Street for holiday cheer and great sales. Also, Black Friday weekend (November 27th and 28th) The Fifth Season Boutique has more sale opportunities for savvy shoppers.

STUDENTS STICK BOOZE TO FIGHT ABUSE

Today on Wellsboro Home Page, correspondent Sarah Vickery joins the Wellsboro High School SADD Club, along with Apryl Tubbs from the Tioga County Partnership for Community Health. Their goal today: to remind those purchasing alcohol not to provide that alcohol to minors. To help accomplish this, Vickery and Tubbs headed down to Steve’s Beverage in Wellsboro to sticker cases of alcohol. The stickers say, “When you choose to host, you lose the most.”
