Athens edges Wellsboro, 27-26
The Athens Wildcats handed the Wellsboro Varsity Football team their first loss of the year with a 27-26 defeat on Friday, October 2.
Next up for Wellsboro is 5-0 Troy next Friday, October 9 on the road at Alparon Park.
“The road doesn’t get any easier for us here in the next few weeks,” Hildebrand concluded. “Troy is a good, tough team this year but we need to stick together and learn from our mistakes. One loss doesn’t stop our season, we still have a long way to go and a lot of football left to play. We can still achieve a lot and our goals are still in sight.”

MU Psych Central – Fighting Winter Blues
We all have good days and bad days, though we may not always be aware of what dictates our mood, stress, and anxiety levels in a given day. A number of factors impact our mood and anxiety daily, like job stress, marital expectations, family pressures, academic overload, and economic stress to name a few. Although these daily strains can impact mood in a negative way, we learn to cope with many stressors in our everyday lives. What some people may not think about is how cyclical factors, like seasonal changes, not only impact our moods, but also how we deal with all of the other everyday events that demand our time and energy.

Hornets sweep Towanda, 6-0
The Wellsboro Varsity Boys Soccer team continued their phenomenal 2015 season as they shutout Towanda 6-0 on Wednesday, October 7.
“I’m very happy with how the boys played tonight,” said head coach John Shaffer. “They passed the ball crisply and really kept the game moving. I was happy to be able to get the varsity reserves in for a chunk of time and get the starters rested for tomorrow’s game.”
The win improves the Hornets’ record to 12-0-1 (8-0-1 NTL). The team will be back in action later today as they host Athens.

Creature Care – Lyme Awareness
Lyme disease is not just a disease that hunters or woodsmen get. Lyme disease— a bacterial infection transmitted by the bite of a very small tick—is increasingly more common in our area and it is infecting our dogs.
In the 2015, Companion Animal Parasite Council forecast Lyme Disease was predicted to be a growing concern for dogs in many areas of the country—ours included. As we enter the last months of 2015, I would certainly have to agree with this prediction, as we are finding more dogs then ever testing positive for Lyme Disease.
