MATTHEWS MOTOR COMPANY CELEBRATES 35 YEARS
Matthews Motor Company has grown along with the family over the last 35 years. “I’m proud of this dealership and the people that work here. Our team cares about other people and you can’t manufacture that” – Jason Matthews.

In addition to being a certified master dealership and a twenty-seven year member of the National Independent Automobile Dealers Association, Jason and his team have expanded the business into a multi-service facility. It’s not just selling and trading cars these days. Stop in and find out more about their rental service, body shop and car detailing packages. Oh yes, and along with the quality cars and excellent service you’ll find at Matthews Motor Company, they also buy cars.

EMERGENCY 101 – WHAT HAPPENS DURING DISASTER?
We know from watching the news that disasters come in many forms and can strike unexpectedly. Have you ever wondered if Tioga County is prepared to respond effectively if disaster strikes our region? Tioga County Department of Emergency Services coordinator Benton Best and his staff recently participated in an exercise to prove their readiness. On Tuesday, July 19th, multiple agencies from several surrounding counties, conducted a training exercise in the county’s emergency operations center.

During a disaster multiple incidents can be occurring at the same time. The emergency may require response efforts from several agencies to be coordinated. In Tuesday’s exercise, elected officials and county emergency management coordinators were supported by Fred Boylstein from the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency.

BECKER PREPARES FOR STUDY ABROAD
High school can be an exciting time to expand your communication skills and gain an appreciation for other cultures. Some students even take on the challenge of studying abroad in another country! Audrey Becker, a local high school student, has decided to spend her senior year studying through the Rotary Exchange Program in Normandy, France.

“I’m so excited to meet all the people, try all the new foods, and travel,” Becker stated. “I’m very excited to be able to speak fluent French by the time I come back, and to be a part of such a huge, international community.”

MU PSYCH CENTRAL – TECH ADDICTION PT. 1
Cell phones are a necessity for many of us. We use them for everything, business purposes, to look up information, call, text, Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, listen to books, music, and play Pokemon Go. With all of these conveniences, can cell phones really be that dangerous? Well, if you develop a dependence on them, they can.

Much research has been done and still needs to be done regarding the idea of cell phone addiction. Current research examinations are identifying the specifics of cell phone hazards to our health, often using gambling addiction as a comparison for cell phone addiction. A number of symptoms have been identified (similar to gambling) that provide an idea for what problematic cell phone use looks like.
