Warriors Trounce Trojans For Old Shoe, 36-0
The Canton Warriors defeated Troy for a second consecutive year in a muddy battle at Miller A. Moyer field for the old shoe winning 36-0 on Friday, October 29.
Turnovers were going to be a factor, but it was the Trojans who really struggled, putting the ball on the ground 12 times, and losing six of them, while the Warriors had just one turnover, and that was an interception.
Canton’s Riley Parker was stellar for the Warriors as he battled mother nature and the Trojans defense. The running back ran for 122 yards and three touchdowns on 21 carries, while Hayden Ward (11 carries, 40-yards, one touchdown) and Wes Bellows (eight carries, 25 yards) showcased the Warriors triple threat of tailbacks.
Damien Landon led Troy with 21-yards rushing on 11 carries, including the team’s only run over 10 yards.
The Warriors finish the regular season 10-0 and claim the NTL League title. The Trojans finish the regular season at 7-3. Both teams have clinched playoff spots with Canton off next week awaiting the winner of the Montgomery-Muncy match-up. Troy will host Sayre next Friday at Alparon Park with a 7 p.m. kick-off.
