Warriors Dominate the Mat: Canton Tops Troy 43–24 in Home Dual Meet
The Canton Warriors delivered an impressive performance on the mat Wednesday night, January 21, defeating the Troy Trojans 43–24 in a high-energy home wrestling dual.
The evening opened at 114 pounds, where Levi Vermilya set the tone early with a hard-fought 14–10 decision over Troy’s Garett Parks.
Momentum continued at 121 as Carson Castle secured a major decision, defeating Anthony Jordan 15–7. At 127 pounds, Keagan Kerr electrified the crowd with a lightning-fast pin of Henry Proseus just 31 seconds into the match.
Canton added more points at 133 when Marcus Frisbie earned a forfeit, followed by another dominant showing at 139. Gavin Sharpe needed just 1:49 to put away Wilder Koch.
At 145, Tommy Preston pinned Logan Heasley 2:31 into the second period, and Hunter Watson followed with a quick 51-second pin of Carson Tillotson at 152.
The Warriors kept rolling at 160 as Manny Halbfoerster collected a forfeit, while Carson Rockwell thrilled fans at 172 by pinning Thomas Moon in just 27 seconds — one of the fastest falls of the night.
Canton continued to build its lead with a forfeit win by Blane Wesneski at 189. At 215, Leland Pepper capped off the team’s string of victories with a 41-second pin over James Deakin. Heavyweight Reed Palmer closed the night with a forfeit at 285.
With strong performances across the lineup, the Canton Warriors secured the overall team victory, 43–24.
Both Canton and Troy will return to action this Friday, January 23, when they compete in the Ultimate Warrior Tournament at West Branch High School.
