by Wyatt Wood - January 19, 2026

The Canton Warriors wrestling team delivered an emphatic performance Saturday night, overpowering the Towanda Black Knights in a decisive 45–24 home victory.

Canton set the tone early and never looked back, stacking pins and quick finishes throughout the lineup to control the dual from start to finish.

At 107 pounds, Levi Vermilya opened the night in dominant fashion, pinning Mason Harbst in just 1:44. Carson Castle followed with a forfeit win at 114 before Jaydon Stranger needed only 50 seconds to defeat Henry Proseus at 127.

Momentum continued at 133, where Brighton Yate secured a pin over Owen Moore in 1:25. Gavin Sharp kept the pace blazing at 139, topping Lydian Bailey in a lightning-fast 33 seconds.

At 145 pounds, Tommy Preston earned a hard-fought 7–0 decision over Hagen Jones, providing Canton with valuable team points. Reese Sluyter added another pin at 152, defeating Carson Tillotson 1:51 into the second period.

The Warriors remained relentless in the upper weights. Manny Halbfoerster pinned Joey Montonya at 160 before the second-period buzzer, while Carson Rockwell closed out a quick win at 172 with a 1:14 pin over Dillan Sbragia.

At 189, Blane Wesneski continued the trend, pinning Kolton McPeak 3:36 into the second period. One of the night’s toughest battles came at 215, where Leland Pepper outlasted Finn Brennan, earning a third-period pin at 4:25.

The dual concluded at heavyweight, where Dominik Miller secured a forfeit win at 285 to seal the night.

When the final tally was complete, Canton stood firmly in control with a 45–24 team victory.

The Warriors return to action Wednesday night when they host Troy, while Towanda hits the road to face Athens.
