WARRIORS CENTRAL: THE LAST DAY OF SCHOOL
Today on Warriors Central, Dr. Martell guides us through the last day of school at Canton Elementary, speaking with beloved teachers and staff members, some of whom will be retiring this year.
Music teacher Karen Mariano shares, “My favorite things are getting goosebumps when the kids do a great job at singing a piece of music and seeing the lightbulbs when they understand something, and just laughing with kids.”
Lisa Dean, who has been a bus driver for a total of 24 years shares, “Just being with the kids every day has been a joy.”
“I have been here 31 years. I’ve been through many changes- exciting and many tear jerking moments,” says third grade teacher Trina Beers. “Watching the kids grow, and the a-ha moments, and my beautiful elementary school family… I’m wishing everybody the best of luck and I’ll be back.”
Shortly after waving his final goodbye to the students, kindergarten through first grade, Principal of the Elementary School Mike Wells shared his thoughts. “Very bittersweet. I enjoyed the run here for nine years. It’s been amazing. I worked with amazing staff members, faculty, students and families. Kind of a sad day, but at the same time excited to take my next step. Hopefully they have a safe summer and hopefully the staff does as well.”
