WARRIORS CENTRAL: BOARD MEMBER RECOGNITION
Each year, the Pennsylvania School Boards Association honors school directors through its Honor Roll of School Board Service a program now in its 42nd year that recognizes directors at five-year milestones for their dedication to public education.
Directors who reach twenty years of service and beyond continue to receive a commemorative plaque at every five-year milestone thereafter, a small token for what is truly an enormous gift of time, energy, and heart.
Serving on a school board is not easy work. It means long meetings after long days, difficult decisions made in the best interest of children you may never personally meet, and a steady willingness to show up – year after year – for a community that depends on steady, thoughtful leadership. PSBA has provided 2026 plaques for the following board members: Mr. Dennis Sourbeer, Mr. Bill Holland, Mr. Tom Resavage, and Mrs. Arica Jennings.
Mr. Tom Resavage – 5 Years of Service
Mr. Resavage represents Canton and LeRoy Townships and is the NTCC Representative for the Canton ASD. Tom, five years ago you stepped into this role, and in that time you’ve become a trusted voice on this Board. Your fresh perspective, paired with a genuine commitment to our students and staff, has already made a real difference. We look forward to many more years of your service and thank you for this first milestone.
Mrs. Arica Jennings – 5 Years of Service
Mrs. Jennings represents Canton and LeRoy Townships and is the chairperson of the Personnel Committee as well as the Canton ASD representative to the BLaST IU17 board. Arica, your first five years on this Board have shown a real dedication to listening, learning, and advocating for what’s best for Canton’s students. You’ve brought thoughtful energy to this role, and this community is better for your willingness to serve. Congratulations on this milestone, and thank you.
Mr. Bill Holland – 15 Years of Service
Mr. Holland, Vice President, represents the Canton Boro. Bill, fifteen years on this Board reflects a genuine commitment to this community and its schools. Your experience and perspective have helped guide this district through countless decisions, and your continued willingness to serve speaks to how much you care about doing right by our students. Thank you for fifteen years of dedicated service.
Mr. Dennis Sourbeer – 35 Years of Service Mr. Sourbeer, Athletic Committee Chairperson, represents the McNett, Mcintyre & Union Townships – Dennis, thirty-five years is not just a milestone — it’s a legacy. For three and a half decades, you have brought steady judgment and quiet dedication to this Board, serving through generations of students, staff, and community change.
Canton’s students today are learning in a district shaped in no small part by your long service. On behalf of this district, thank you for thirty-five years of showing up for Canton.
Duane Naugle is one of PSBA’s Sectional Advisors, serving the C-1 Section. He also serves as a board director at Wyalusing Area School District and is highly respected by colleagues and within the public education community. Mr. Naugle is looking forward to celebrating Mr Dennis Sourbeer’s years of service.
On behalf of the administration, staff, taxpayers, and students of the Canton Area School District, thank you to Dennis, Bill, Tom, and Arica. Public service – especially the volunteer kind – often goes unnoticed. Tonight, we will make sure it doesn’t. Please join me in a round of applause for these four dedicated board members.
