Victory Church to Host Movie Night

by Erik Berggren - April 11, 2025

“The King of Kings,” a new animated film about the life of Jesus, released in theaters today, Friday, April 11th. It was shown for one day only at the Sayre Theatre on Thursday, April 10th, but anyone who didn’t get to see the film then will have one more chance to watch it here in Bradford County.
On Wednesday, April 16th, Victory Church in Troy will screen “The King of Kings” for a movie night event in the church’s sanctuary. The event will be open to the public and 100% free of charge.

“We love hosting movie night here for the community to give people the opportunity to come enjoy something that is not only family-friendly but faith-based and meaningful,” said Josh Payne, pastor of Victory Church.

“The King of Kings” is loosely inspired by Charles Dickens’ book The Life of Our Lord, which he wrote for his children as a way to introduce them to Christ. Similarly, the movie follows Dickens as he narrates the life of Jesus with his son as they imagine themselves in the midst of the story.

“It’s really an honor for us to be able to host “King of Kings,” Payne said. “We were chosen as a host screening site for “The King of Kings” because of the lack of proximity for another theater.”

While the movie night is still technically a ticketed event, Victory Church is covering the cost of every ticket. There will also be free popcorn, candy, and water for everyone in attendance.

“We just want to be a blessing to our community,” said Payne.

The movie night kicks off a week of family fun put on by Victory Church around the Easter weekend. The festivities will continue with egg hunts for children on Saturday evening and Sunday morning, April 19th and 20th, and a free skating party at Sk8Zone in Troy on Wednesday, April 23rd.  Keep an eye on Victory Church’s Facebook page for more details on those.
