Junior Brianne Keane led the Lady Hornets with 35 assists and 10 points, senior Kirsten Florio had 24 kills, 16 digs, and 7 points, and 3 blocks and sister Morgan Florio had 17 digs and 15 points, and junior Cheyenne Sherman had 6 points, 5 kills, and 4 assists.

For Troy, Sam Gentile had 20 kills, Morgan Gentile had 18 kills, Cassie Shedden recorded 37 assists, Hailey Williams made 18 digs, Kerrigan Hoffmann scored 10 points and had 14 digs, and Caitlin Delosa made 10 digs.

In the Lady Hornets’ last match, Kirsten Florio reached a milestone as she surpassed 500 career kills in the loss to Towanda on Thursday, October 13. Florio had 516 career kills coming into the match with Troy, and now sits at 540 for her career.

“It means everything to me,” Florio said. “I’ve worked a lot throughout the whole season and I couldn’t have done it without my team helping me in the back row and with our setters and everyone covering for defense so so it was really a team effort. I couldn’t have done it without them.”

In the JV game the Lady Hornets remained perfect with a 2-0 (25-5, 25-20) to improve to 19-0 under coach Michelle McNett. McNett is now 75-14 (0.843) in her 5 years at Wellsboro.

The loss drops the Lady Hornets’ record to 11-8. The team will be back in action on Thursday, October 20 at North Penn-Liberty.
