Troy claims the Old Shoe over Canton, 61-20
On Friday, October 25th the Troy Trojans hosted the Canton Warriors on senior night. The Trojans dominated every quarter.
In the first quarter the Trojans advanced their way down the field. Then, inside the 10, Evan Woodward handed it off to Kael Millard; with nowhere to go he pitched it back to Woodward for the opening score. The kick was blocked, putting the Trojans up 6-0.
Next, the Trojans on their own 42 – Woodward sent the ball up to a wide open Joesph Frye for their second touchdown. The kick was good, making 13-0.
Later in the quarter Brenden Gilliland received the pitch and hit the outside, running it in to put Troy up, 20-0.
The Trojan onslaught continued in the second quarter. Gilliland found the end zone once more, and Millard scored three times, making it 40-0 going into the second half.
The Trojans scored again early in the third. Then, on the following kickoff Canton’s Aydin Holcomb received the ball handed it to Zach Colton who quickly dished it to Bailey Gardner. Gardner found his openings and took it to the house get the Warriors on the board, 47-7.
Both teams scored a few more times on the night, but ultimately the game fell in Troy’s overwhelming favor, granting them the Old Shoe, 61-20.
This wraps up the regular season, but both teams will be back for post season this week. On Friday, November 1st the Trojans are hosting South Williamsport and on Saturday the Warriors are headed to Muncy.
