Trojans wear down Wildcats, Claiming 8-4 Victory
On Thursday, April 24th the Troy Trojans hosted the Athens Wildcats on the diamond. Bottom of the first, Troy’s Lincoln Chimics at bat, hits a line drive past the second baseman, bringing home Logan Heasley. Then Chimics follows shortly behind for the infield home run. Troy up 2-0.
Top of the second, Athens got on the board. Karson Sipley bunts down the third base line, drawing the play at first scoring their first run. Bottom of the second, Troy draws two more runs. Trey Teribury hits a grounder to second. The ball is bobbled, Troy leads 4-2.
Top of the third, Athens finds home again as Kamdyn Wheeler runs across the plate. Bottom of the third, Chimics steals home to put Troy up 5-3. Later, Evan Woodward hits a shallow line drive to right field to score Joseph Frye.
Bottom of the fourth, Troy increases their lead. Brendan Gilliland deep pop fly to left field, caught out – but Teribury capitalizes, making it 7-3 Troy.
Bottom of the fifth, Frye with a steep pop fly to right field, caught – but Chimics wins the race to home.
Athens brought in one more run on the night, but could not overcome Troy’s lead, giving the Trojans the win 8-4.
The Troy Trojans will be back on the diamond on Tuesday, April 29th hosting Wyalusing.
