Trojans trample Panthers, 56-13

by Wyatt Wood - October 14, 2024

On Friday, October 11th the North Penn Mansfield Panthers football hosted on the Troy Trojans on Senior Night.

The Trojans started off the night just two plays into the game. From the Trojan 48, Evan Woodward hands the rock off to Brendan Gilliland who takes it to the house. Gavin Lykon-Leffler’s kick was good, putting Troy on top, 7-0.

With just over 5 minutes left in the quarter, Gilliland scored again, this time from 75 yards out. Touchdown Trojans!
A few minutes later, Troy advancing down the field again, Reed Palmer takes the handoff and punches his way through the line and into the end zone to make it 21-0.

With just under 30 seconds left in the first quarter, the Trojans put up two more scores. First on offense, outside pass to Lincoln Chimics – racing to the pylon. Touchdown!

A few seconds later, the Trojans defense forces a fumble for Mason Smith to scoop and score. Heading into the second quarter, Troy held a dominating lead, 34-0.

Troy scored twice more in the second quarter before the Panthers found the end zone. North Penn on the Trojan 15, Cooper Shaw back in the pocket launches a bomb to the corner of the end zone where Riley Oaks brings it down. The extra point was blocked, making it 34-6.
Both teams traded scores during the remainder of the game, but the Trojan siege couldn’t be halted – as Troy claimed victory, 56-13.
This Friday, the Trojans will travel to face Central Mountain, and on Saturday, North Penn-Mansfield hosts Cowanesque Valley.
