Trojans Shutout Panthers, 35-0

by Ed Weaver - September 20, 2021

The North Penn-Mansfield Panthers suffered a 35-0 NTL Large School Division loss to the Troy Trojans at Alparon Park on Friday, September 17.

The Panthers struggled the entire night as they were only able to muster 99 yards of total offense.

Troy, however, was firing on all cylinders as they improved to 3-1 (2-0 NTL Large School Division), with their only loss to Bald Eagle Area the first week of the season.

The Trojans struck firs midway through the opening quarter as Justice Chimics snuck his way in for the score to make it 7-0. Later in the quarter Damien Landon scored from 11 yards out as he drug multiple Panther defenders into the end zone.

Troy added one more score before the first half ended. This time Clayton Smith found his way to paydirt from 3 yards out to put Troy up 21-0 over the visiting Panthers.

Neither team scored in the third quarter, but Troy once again added two more score in the final frame. With 5:40 left in the game Chimics completed a rare pass to Gavin Cohick for 18 yards to make it a 28-0 game. Just a short while later, with 3:46 remaining, Mason Woodward picked off a Karson Dominick pass and took it 51 yards to the house for the game’s final score.

Dominick completed 6-of-16 passes for 20 yards and Cameron Fabian carried the ball 10 times for 42 yards and caught 3 passes for 21 yards. Defensively Kohen Lehman made 8 tackles.

The loss was the Panthers second in a row and third of the season, bringing their record to 1-3 overall and 1-2 in the league. They look to even up their record this coming Friday as they host Towanda at Island Park.
