Trojans dominate Mountaineers In 1st Round of Playoffs
On Friday, November 1st, it was the first round of District 4 football playoffs and the Troy Trojans hosted the South Williamsport Mountaineers.
Troy started the night early in their first possession – lined up on their own 48. Brenden Gilliland received the pitch and took it in for the score. Gavin Lykon-leffler’s kick was good, making it 7-0.
Lincoln Chimics caught a pick 6 shortly after, increasing their lead to 14-0.
Then he caught another pick 6! Chimics read the play once more and took it to the house. Troy was up 21–0.
Later in the first Kael Millard received the handoff, hit the outside and barreled his way through. The point after attempt was good! Troy dominated with 5 minutes left in the first quarter, 28-0.
Troy kept the pressure on as Evan Woodward rolled wide left and aired it out to Chimics. Touchdown, Trojans! The kick was good, 35-0.
Still with their foot to the floor the Trojans advanced to inside the 10. Jack Burbage received the ball in motion and hit the side – yet another Trojan score! 42-0 to end the first quarter.
Troy went on to put up 63 points to South Williamsport’s 27, advancing the Trojans on to next week: the semi-finals against Southern Columbia! Make sure you make it to Mansfield University for the red-out, November 8th. The game starts at 7 and the doors open at 5:30pm.
