Trojans Dominate Canton Baseball with Mercy-Rule Victory
On Monday, April 14th the Troy Trojans baseball team hosted the Canton Warriors, with the Trojans coming away with a decisive mercy-rule victory.
In the bottom of the first, Troy put points on the board. Brendan Gilliland hits a short fly to right field, bringing home Joseph Frye.
After another defensive hold, bottom of the second, Troy back to bat – Logan Heasley slammer to left field to score Trey Teribury.
Top of the third, Canton gets on the board. Bailey Gardner hits a double to bring in Ben Fitch. Next, Canton still at bat, Zach Colton pop fly right field, and Gardner capitalizes on an error to tie it up.
After another defensive hold, bottom of the fourth, Troy’s Mason Smith smacks a double to left field, bringing home Evan Woodward and Logan Heasley, making it 4-2.
From there it was all Troy as they scored run after run. By the bottom of the fifth Troy was out ahead 10, mercy ruling the Warriors with a final score of 12-2.
The Trojans will be traveling today to Wellsboro, while the Canton Warriors are on the road at Sayre.
