Trojans Celebrate Home Opener with 49-14 Rout of Rams

by Wyatt Wood - September 29, 2025

On Friday, September 26, the Troy Trojans kicked off their home schedule in style—both on and off the field. Before kickoff, Troy held a special unveiling ceremony for a custom sign honoring their historic 2024 AA state championship. Then the Trojans backed it up with a dominant 49-14 win over the Wyalusing Rams.

Troy wasted no time making a statement on their opening drive. Quarterback Mason Smith connected with Trey Teribury on a deep strike to the end zone, and Gavin Lykon-Leffler’s extra point made it 7-0.

The Trojans kept the pressure on midway through the first quarter. Pounding the ball inside the 10, Kale Millard muscled through the defense for another touchdown. Lykon-Leffler stayed perfect on the PAT, stretching the lead to 14-0.

With under a minute left in the opening quarter, Troy struck again. This time Brendan Gilliland took the handoff at the 5-yard line, bounced outside, and followed his blockers for an easy score. Another extra point gave the Trojans a commanding 21-0 advantage.

The second quarter brought more of the same. Smith once again looked deep and found Teribury for his second touchdown of the night. Lykon-Leffler’s kick made it 28-0 as Troy completely controlled the game on both sides of the ball.

By the time the dust settled, Troy’s offense had piled up 49 points while the defense limited Wyalusing to just two scores. The final tally: Trojans 49, Rams 14.

Troy will look to carry the momentum into next week as they host the Wellsboro Hornets, while Wyalusing regroups for their next matchup.
