Trojans, Black Knights Trade Blows in 13-13 Thriller Suspended by Storms

by Wyatt Wood - April 16, 2026

Fans at Troy got more than their money’s worth Wednesday afternoon, as the Trojans and Towanda Black Knights battled through eight innings of back-and-forth action before stormy skies forced a suspension with the score knotted at 13-13.
The game, highlighted by explosive offense on both sides, was tied 3-3 heading into the third inning before Towanda surged ahead. A base hit slipping past the second baseman allowed Hudson Stevens and Boom Thompson to score, and Shane Maghamez followed with another RBI knock to bring home Harper Welles, giving the Black Knights momentum.
But Troy answered emphatically in the bottom half of the inning with a rally that flipped the game on its head.
Hunter Watson sparked the comeback with an RBI, scoring Brendan Gilliland, before Reed Palmer crossed the plate to keep the pressure on. With the bases loaded, Pryor Teribury lifted a fly ball to left to bring Watson home and give Troy the lead. Moments later, Trey Teribury raced in to score, extending the advantage.
The Trojans weren’t finished. Mason Smith ripped a grounder down the third base line, plating Lucas Loxley and Pryor Teribury, and Logann Heasley capped the inning with a rocket that brought Smith home, putting Troy firmly in control at 10-5.
Towanda, however, refused to go quietly.
The Black Knights chipped away over the next several innings, eventually clawing back to even the score by the bottom of the sixth. By the top of the seventh, Towanda had seized the advantage, pulling ahead by two runs in a game that refused to settle.
Troy’s defense held strong to keep the deficit manageable, setting the stage for yet another dramatic turn.
Then came the eighth inning — and the weather.
With both teams locked at 13-13 in extra innings, dark clouds rolled in and halted play, suspending the contest before a winner could be decided. A makeup date has yet to be announced.
Towanda returns to action today against the Wyalusing Rams, while Troy shifts focus to the Shamokin Tournament this Saturday, though both squads will undoubtedly be eager to settle unfinished business.
