Tioga County Native Reunites With Fianceé In Indonesia Over A Year After Engagement
Sometimes love shows up in the most unexpected way. And sometimes, it shows up on the other side of the planet.
Andrew, from small town Wellsboro, Pennsylvania – and Gio, from Jakarta, Indonesia, first connected several years ago through shared circles of faith. What started as casual conversations quickly turned into something deeper. They discovered a shared sense of purpose, a love for people, and a belief that God was weaving their stories together — even from halfway across the world.
In April 2024, after months of late-night calls and early-morning messages, Andrew finally made the trip to Indonesia to meet Gio and her family in person. And later in August of 2024 they reconnected in the United States as Gio visited Tioga County – where Andrew finally asked her the big question: will you marry me? Her answer was an emphatic “yes!”
Now, in late 2025, over a year since their engagement – they’ve reunited again in Jakarta as Gio prepares for her K1 visa interview at the U.S. Embassy. It’s the next big step before they can finally start their life together in Pennsylvania.
It hasn’t been easy – juggling distance, time zones, and endless paperwork never is – but through it all, Andrew and Gio have leaned into their faith in God, determined that He would open doors for them.
This is my commandment: Love each other in the same way I have loved you. John 15:12
