Tioga County crowns new Fair Queen!

by John Vogt - August 2, 2016

Today on Wellsboro Home Page we cover the crowning of the new 2016 Tioga County Fair Queen.

This year the Tioga County Fair celebrates 50 years. One of the important events leading up to the launch of the fair is the selection of the new fair queen. This important pre-fair event took place this past Sunday, July 31st.

Darby Kasper, the 2016 Pennsylvania State Fair Queen, and Morgan Koziar, the 2015 Tioga County Fair Queen, crowned the new Tioga County fair queen, Morgan Cady, who will be reigning over this year’s events.

Each candidate submitted a written essay for the judges to review. They also presented themselves during a personal interview. The candidates were then evaluated on the presentation of their speech, which was delivered at the crowning event. Finally, the judges evaluated the candidates ability to think on their feet by answering an impromptu question.

Emily Starkweather was named Miss Congeniality. Taylor Rose Hemenway was named the Second Alternate. Alyssa Remley was named First Alternate. Lastly, Morgan Cady was selected and crowned the 2016 Tioga County Fair Queen.

Morgan Cady is 17 years old and resides in Westfield, PA. She is the daughter of Lennette and Jeff Cady. Morgan believes that the Tioga County Fair is an incredible chance for all ages in the community to display their skills. Along with the fun and the food, she said that the fair is a place and time for the entire community to come together and support 4-H, FFA and the people of Tioga County.

During the second half of today’s broadcast we have the opportunity to hear from Morgan Cady herself, along with others who made Sunday’s event so special.

Join our community in celebrating the 50th Anniversary of the Tioga County Fair, August 8th through the 13th. For a complete schedule of this year’s events, go to tiogacountyfair.com. Be sure to watch for coverage of this beloved event right here on Wellsboro Home Page.
