The Mansfield community celebrated Independence Day with two days of patriotic festivities, beginning Friday, July 3, with a children’s bike decorating contest and parade. Families gathered to show off creatively decorated bicycles, wagons, and other rides featuring festive red, white, and blue displays as participants made their way through town.

The celebration continued Saturday with Mansfield’s annual Fourth of July parade along Main Street. Floats, community organizations, elected officials, marching bands, emergency vehicles, and other participants entertained spectators lining the parade route. KC 101 Hometown Country provided live commentary throughout the event, introducing each parade entry as it passed by.

The weekend festivities concluded with an unexpected change in plans, as the annual fireworks display was postponed because of thunderstorms. Organizers say the fireworks will be held at a later date, with the new date and time to be announced.
