Tigers take down Hughesville in Quarterfinals
Top seeded North Penn-Mansfield hosted number 8 seed Hughesville in the quarterfinals of the District 4 Class 3A playoffs on Thursday, and came home with a 66-44 win over the Spartans.
Twenty seconds int the game Sammy Lawrence cleans up a missed 3, giving the Tigers and early lead. 70 seconds later Alex Davis takes it to the rack, converting the layup, and making it a 4-1 game.
Next Tiger possession Cooper Shaw is left open from downtown, the sophomore converts, making it a 7-1 game. The Tigers come up with a steal on the defensive side of the ball, then Lawrence fires a pass down to Karson Dominick, and he takes it all the way for the layup.
After the opening quarter – Mansfield led 19-6.
2nd quarter – the Tigers are at again and Lawrence scoots by his defender for the easy layup, then with 4:20 to go, Andrew Green impounds to Brody Burleigh, the turn around is up and good.
Mansfield led 37-25 at the half, and cruised to the win, advancing to the semifinals. Next up for the Tigers is a date with Loyalsock, 72-48 winners over Southern Columbia. The game will take place at a time and location to be determined.
