Filomena Jack is a beloved teaching artist from Elmira who is known for her colorful work that embraces a childlike enthusiasm for life. Filomena will give an artist’s talk at 3PM to talk about the importance of colorful art as a way to combat the winter blues. “The Persistence of Flowers” is an exhibit that celebrates our ability to focus on what is useful, encouraging, and lovely. The artist has been collecting tools, habits, and techniques to help her battle depression and anxiety since she was a child. Remembering that flowers always emerge each spring and that we HAVE A CHOICE as to what we plant in our figurative (and actual!) surroundings/heads/subconscious has been a key component to help her thrive. We invite you to spend time with the flowers and to plant the seeds necessary for you experience more colorful and encouraging days. This exhibit is suitable for all ages.
Filomena Jack holds a BFA from Jersey City University where she focused on photography and sculpture. After college, Filomena worked as a corporate software trainer in NYC. She now paints large murals, portraits of pets, and lots and lots of flowers. Filomena holds certifications in personal development and therapeutic hypnosis and helps clients reach their goals using humor and creative thinking.
