The Destroyers Power Past Rochester
The Mansfield Destroyers offense rallied past the Rochester Ridgemen for a 13-6 win at home on Wednesday, June 23.
The Ridgemen took a 1-0 lead in the 1st inning after a run down at second led to a run scored by James Jauz from third base.
Mansfield answered back in the second inning scoring 5 runs. Tyler Castelli continued the scoring with a two RBI double to center field, scoring Zahan Meyer and Connor Larson for the third and fourth runs of the inning.
The Destroyers’ offense stayed hot in the third inning with a three run home run by John Wheeler to left field to make it 8-1.
Rochester and Mansfield traded runs heading into the eighth inning when a two run home run by Jaret Folkowski cut the Destroyers lead from 10-4 to 10-6.
Mansfield got the runs back and then some in the bottom of the eighth scoring three more runs. John Whooley started the scoring with an RBI single, scoring Theron Schilling from third.
The Destroyers were able to close it out in the ninth inning and get the 13-6 win at home.
Mansfield starting pitcher Mason Vaughan went five innings with eight strikeouts and two earned runs to earn the win.
The win improves the Mansfield Destroyers record to 9-3 on the season. After an off day today, the Destroyers will be back at Shaute Field on Friday to host the visiting Hornell Dodgers.
