The Creative Pieces of Tioga County

by Johanna Vogt - February 21, 2019

Tioga County is falling to pieces, but it’s a good thing! Pop’s Culture Shoppe’s 2019 puzzle series are fresh off the press and in stock! This year, Pop’s had over 150 photos entered into their annual photo contest. These photos consist of Tioga County’s most beautiful scenery and community. After all the images were submitted, analyzed, and judged, five winners were announced. Linda Stager’s “‘Merica, Glory and Freedom” captures the majesty of a bald eagle looking over its nest. Shannon Davis is a first-time winner, and she took the beautiful photo “Rail Trail Wagon Ride.” “Canyon View from the West Rim” is a gorgeous photo taken by Russel Geare that shows the stillness and magnificence of the Grand Canyon. Bernadette Chiaramonte’s “Magical Springtime for Wynken, Blynken, and Nod” portrays the sweet Wellsboro springtime. And Lonny Frost’s image, “Bucky’s Trees at Wellsboro’s Dickens of a Christmas” shows the incredible carved wooden trees that most people will recognize from Dickens of a Christmas.

Something that Pop’s Culture Shoppe holds to be very important and a high priority is to support the arts. Pop’s gives a part of the puzzle proceeds into the schools for the annual art show, in promoting the annual art events in our community through the Artisan Trail, and also in hosting events in their Playroom that encourage creative thinking.

Games and puzzles are significant and important! In this feature, we discussed how certain games use mechanisms to stimulate your mind to think outside the box. Don’t be afraid to try something new! You never know what things your brain can accomplish until you try. Make sure you stop into Pop’s Culture Shoppe to experience some great fun and creative thinking!
