The Blossburg Fire Department is currently raising funds for new Self Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA).

All of them need to be replaced and it’s a cost of roughly $8,000 per device.

SCBA is a device firefighters wear that delivers breathable air from a compressed air tank to an air-tight mask. It provides them with oxygen when exposed to smoke and toxic gases that result from burning structures or chemical fires.

The new gear has features that will give firefighters more confidence in their personal safety, allowing them to attack structure fires more quickly and perform interior attack and victim rescue more safely.

To help raise these funds the fire department will be selling chicken BBQ dinners July 23rd at the Riverside Plaza, Blossburg, holding a Cornhole Tournament August 27th at the fire hall in Blossburg and will be partnering with the Victoria Theatre on Friday July 8th during the Cadillac Cats concert – with more fundraising activities in the works.
