by Loren Nowak - September 2, 2016

Come to downtown Wellsboro this Friday. Bring your friends or meet new ones! A lot is going on this month. Wine tasting, super sales, art and music and fun things to do for all ages. See you there!

New this month is the Wellsboro First Friday Downtown Sidewalk Sale. Many businesses will be offering up items at rock bottom prices. Check out the sidewalk sale tables outside or inside The Fifth Season, Garrison’s Men’s Shop, Stained Glass Reflections, In My Shoes, Pop’s Culture Shoppe, Shabby Rue, Treasure Agents, Dunham’s, Wild Asaph Outfitters, The Painted Cupboard, From My Shelf Books & Gifts, Wellsboro Subway, Peggy’s Candies & Gifts, (and maybe others)

Also for September 2nd Free In-Store Raffles all over town! Stop in at the following shops for a chance to win a gift certificate for that store or another valuable prize: In My Shoes, Wild Asaph Outfitters, Shabby Rue, The Fifth Season, From my Shelf Books, Wellsboro Subway, Garrison’s Men’s Shop, (and maybe others)

Wellsboro First Friday Dining Specials. Stop in at any of our fine restaurants and ask about the “First Friday Special.”

Music and Art always add to the flavor of Wellsboro First Friday. September is no exception. See art being made and music played all over downtown.

The Sidewalk Chalk Contest in front of Stained Glass Reflections has become a staple on First Fridays. Everyone who draws on the sidewalk goes home with a goody, and three lucky winners receive a gift certificate to Peggy’s Candies & Gifts. Apryl Tubbs and Tioga Partnership for Community Health will facilitate the contest and award the prizes.

Pop’s Culture Shoppe: Make sure you stop in to see us at Pop’s during First Friday. We’ll have our usual game night activities, plus music with The Road Virus, art by the Crane brothers and a super deep discount table with savings up to 60% off. Plus look for bunches of grapes hidden throughout the store to pluck additional discounts right off our shelves! It’s all happening this Friday, September 2nd. See you there!

Stained Glass Reflections: All hand-blown glass wine bottle stoppers are 20% off. Music out front, snacks and wine inside. Also 50% off all beads and beading supplies. Out front watch potter James States make magic out of mud. Try your hand at it, too!

Emerge Healing Arts & Spa will again offer their free chair massages and mini manicures under the roof at Ginn & Vickery Law Offices.

Shabby Rue will have a sidewalk sale table along with many more impressive sales inside. Stop in and sign up for a free raffle for a wine related prize. Also, adults can enjoy a glass of wine while they browse the bargains.

The Fifth Season: Stop into The Fifth Season for a wine tasting between 5 and 8. While there, guess how many M&M’s are in the jar for a chance to win a $20 Fifth Season gift certificate! Pick up a free American Flag to help celebrate Labor Day, enjoy some refreshments and check out the sidewalk clearance sale!

From My Shelf Books & Gifts is offering 25-30% off all books related to The Art of Wine theme and bigger discounts on other items. September 2nd is also the official release party for Kevin Coolidge’s new book, a fantasy geared to adult readers, Operation Ragnarok. Win a copy of Ragnarok or a Ninja Turtle book in their free raffle inside the store.

The Native Bagel: Stop in and give a listen to Kres Kilmer play and sing.

Wellsboro Subway: Because they love seeing the smiles on kids faces they will again offer a free cookie to kids under 12. Plus taste some tasty samples and enter a free drawing for a six-inch sub. The sidewalk sale dining special is: buy one 6” sub and any drink and get another 6” sub for free. PLUS each purchase of a 6” sub gets you another chance at winning TWO 6” “Meal Deals”! Lots of coupons available for future savings, too!
