TGIFirst Friday!

Circus-themed First Friday fun today in Wellsboro!

We have more going on August 7th than any month to date! This is not a Wellsboro First Friday to miss! FREE food and drink, numerous activities for families (with prizes!), LOTS of art, music and plenty of shopping/dining specials. See you there! Starting at 5PM in downtown Wellsboro.

This month’s scavenger hunt will have a circus/carnival theme. Easy to play. Just go around to each business and spot the “First Friday Picture Card” and write what you see on your sheet. This month there will be 10 winners! Come and play! There is a very good chance you could win great gifts from these local merchants: Timeless Destinations, The Arcadia Theater, In My Shoes, Wild Asaph Outfitters, Red Skillet, Pop’s Culture Shoppe, Grubby’s Games, Stained Glass Reflections, Country Ski and Sports, Garrison’s, Shabby Rue, Dunham’s Department Store, The Fifth Season, The Native Bagel and From My Shelf Books and Gifts. Each prize is worth at least $20. We may not have a scavenger hunt every month, but this one, for sure, will be the best!

Free Hot Dogs! Wander down to 19 Crafton Street and meet a Tioga County Commissioner, Roger Bunn while he serves you a free hot dog.

Thirsty?? Find a free bottle of cold water (and free tote bags!) in front of Matt Baker’s office on Main Street. The Elder Services Group will be there with tons of useful information about resources for senior citizens, their families and care givers. You’ll be surprised what Tioga County has to offer.

Dunham’s Department Store—In keeping with the circus/carnival theme, the Wellsboro Art Club will be doing face painting in front of the store. Goodies for our Troops will be coordinating with the Art Club and there will be some “try out the toys” activities on the street. What a line up for August! Dunham’s will also be offering tasting samplings of Stonewall Kitchen products in the card/gift department. More free food! Does it get any better?

Cafe 1905—Great music again at Cafe 1905. Stop by to hear local young violinist Johanna Vogt. Always fun! Cafe1905, a great supporter of First Friday, starts the day early. From 7-10 am get a tall coffee for just a buck. During First Friday hours, it’s Frappy Hour again. Any frappuccino is just $3.

Pop’s Culture Shoppe– “Come One, Come All” is the Theme for Wellsboro’s First Friday in August, so come on down to Pop’s on August 7th to try your hand at a carnival game and win in-store discounts and prizes! Musician Jesse Gotschal will be performing his original music in front of Pop’s and Josh Crane will set up his easel to show off his artistic talents. PLUS Ralpho the Magician will entertain with with his outstanding feats and great sense of humor. Then come inside for free, family-friendly, Friday game night to sample games from our demo library and join others for hands-on fun!
Pop’s will also be donating 10% of all First Friday sales of our Magic Tricks and Kits to Tioga County “Seeds of Hope”.

Talented local Young felt artist, Alaina McKee is BACK! And she will be demonstrating and showing her works at Garrison’s.

In My Shoes– “We will be clowning around at In My Shoes playing a bean toss game with kid prizes. We will also have our popcorn machine making fresh popcorn to give away for snacking. PLUS lots of back to school deals on kid shoes as low as only $19. Also at In My shoes, during First Friday hours summer shoes are $10 off!”

WOW! The Native Bagel will host the Relay for Life Central Avenue Block Party! Games, Music, Food, Prizes and FUN!

Lyle Bush (Pine Cone Pottery) will display his work in front of the Historic Penn-Wells Hotel.

James States, another fine local potter will have his potter’s wheel at Stained Glass Reflections to demonstrate his craft and show some of his work.

Grubby’s Games (Pearl Street) “We will be doing 15% off games and accessories from 5-7:30 on August 7th for our sale. Grubby’s Games has expanded!! Stop in front for some fun circus-related activities for kids and families.”
The Fifth Season is also having a “Summer Clearance Sale” with HOT deals through out the store.

Shabby Rue–Mara Wilcox and Katie Debach from Mansfield will be in front of Shabby Rue. Mara and Katie sing and play ukuleles! Stop by and learn about this fascinating instrument while listening to some great music and harmonies. Inside Shabby Rue, sign up for a free drawing to win one of two gift tote bags. Drawing at 8PM. TWO bags (with a surprise inside of each)! Also out front find a puppet giving “goodie bags” to kids. And while they shop adults can enjoy an adult beverage. Spend $100 and get a FREE tote. Lots going on. Sounds like fun!

Wellsboro Gridders will be at 76 Main Street. FREE balloons and some fun activities for kids. Some of the Hornets team will be there. Fun! Wellsboro Gridder’s Club will have balloons for kids and a game or two and some free trinkets for kids. Some of the football players will be there to help the kids with the games.
