Summertime Fun & Games For Everyone!

by Sara Vogt - July 11, 2019

Summertime fun at home and away can be multiplied by the games we play! Playing games together increases our learning, growing, caring and loving one another – making great memories for a lifetime!

Home Page correspondent Julianna Vogt spent time with Anja and Julian Stam at Pop’s Culture Shoppe as they demonstrated many of their popular games! (watch the video)

Pop’s Culture Shoppe gave us the following suggestions about the different ages and the games they would enjoy!

From 18 months to 5 years – those wonderful toddler years!
The following games are all active games that keep kids moving, even on a rainy day, and are adaptable for different developmental levels to teach gross and fine motor skills, color recognition, verbal and early reading skills, computer coding, cooperation and taking turns.

Move & Groove
Code Hopper
Seek-a-Boo

From 5 years and up, children have longer attention spans and are ready for games like the following just to mention a few!

Balance Beans – Teaches physics, math, and algebra (Great for the whole family because the puzzles go all the way up to the expert level for adults.)
Snail Sprint teaches colors, decision making, planning ahead, taking turns.
Catch the Match allows the child to see the subtle differences in color to find the exact matches.

At 8 years and up, the possibilities are almost endless! For those who really enjoy art and creating the following crafts are very enjoyable and beautiful!

Aquarellum painting kits
Sunbeam Catcher kits
Solar System Model Making Kit

One of Anja and Julian’s favorite games to demonstrate is Tsuro. It is easy to learn and plays well with 2 to 8 players while improving abstract thinking and planning.

To see the action and wonder at Pop’s Culture Shoppe please stop in at 25 Main Street in Wellsboro, PA.
