Students Inducted into Honor Society
Wellsboro Area High School’s chapter of the National Honor Society (NHS) held a ceremony this past Wednesday, February 18th, to induct new members and recognize graduating members. NHS inductee Andrea Tsao played the opening prelude as Wellsboro Area High School principal David Krick took the stage for a welcome speech. His words of welcome preceded the candle lighting ceremony, which was initiated by NHS President Elise Becker and continued by Vice President Evan English, Secretary Nicholas Levindoski, Treasurer Lauren Gooch, and Historian Alice Hakvaag. They outlined the five values that the National Honor Society upholds and lit each of the five corresponding candles one by one. The Pledge of the National Honor Society was administered by Elise Becker, and the introduction of the junior and senior inductees commenced.
Twenty-four students were inducted including three seniors and twenty-one juniors. Each student was presented with a symbol of membership to signify his or her official induction to the NHS. The NHS chapter advisor Mrs. Lisa Higham then introduced all current senior members, who signed the official membership book and received stoles for their participation. Mr. Robert Kreger, Assistant Principal of Wellsboro Area High Schools, closed the ceremony with congratulatory remarks as Andrea Tsao played the postlude on piano.
